Most tourists will make the 45 minute trek out to Kaitoke Regional Park for Rivendell, and perhaps come away disappointed at how little of the film magic remains. Top marks to the locals who erected the Elvish arch so you can go home with some photos, but the true beauty of this park lies just beyond Rivendell, on the 30-40 minute circuit walk.
